Allot of us knew TG was a bad guy from the start. Andrea it seems even when things were not quite right, she still stayed in WB and even returned to WB. There were the “walker fights”, Andrea catching Michonne after their fight, aquariums with animated heads. She decided to go to the prison and even recommended it to Tyreese and his group. When she reached the prison she saw and heard the destruction he caused, plus she saw Merle there and he had no intention to go back to WB. She couldn’t have believed TG was really badly and or crazy because she felt “safe” enough to sleep with him the night she returned. Even during the meeting with Rick she could have asked Rick to take her to the prison I’m not sure if I missed something but was it only when she figured out in the last episode that they were going to war?

I think the heads in the tank disturbed her a little bit with the walker fights but I think when she found out that the governor went to the prison and attacked and then finding out the things he did to Glenn and Maggie was the turning points I think. That really got her to try and resolve the problem and once she found out that failed shes trying to stop/kill the governor.

I think she's always had her suspicions...but hearing it from Milton that the deal is off and he wants Michonne (who has always been brutally honest about everything, despite his closeness to Phillip, she knows he isn't capable of lying - he's just that kind of guy) and seeing the "Chair O' Fun" complete with handcuffs, speculum, and sewing kit, and seeing the Gov himself setting it up - well, she finally knew the score. Sadly, even though she's had her suspicions, she really did need to see it first hand with her own eyes to break through her gullibility screen and believe it.

I guess that's the biggest problem I have with Andrea's portrayal in the series. She's all trying to show off prove herself to be Badass McGee, but when it boils down to it, she can never make the calls that count and pusses out. (Offing the Gov when she had the chance as per Carol's advice).

It's that always-trying-to-be-something-she-isn't that makes me dislike her even more than Lori. I mean, with Lori....we all knew what we were getting. She'd be a bitch, make scowly faces, tell Carl to get in the house and wear a tank top for each episode. When she showed up on the screen, I expected and got that every time. Andrea flip flops between delicate dumb blonde, to depressed suicidal martyr, to lost little girl, to Annie Oakley with a gun, to biter-stabbing commando, to sex object and kept woman, to political messenger, to speech giver, to monitor of the moral compass, to best friend and betrayer, to first lady, to mafia sit-down mediator to.... :wallmad:

...well you get the drift. Sometimes I just wish she'd put on a tank top and scowl and tell Carl to stay out of the lawn. I'd rather have her as Lori #2. This over-the-top complex character development just isn't working for me. Maybe another actress could have pulled it off, but I can't buy it and it bores me. Just my two cents of course....

Though I think the Maggie info was the turning point, I think her being tossed from the meeting seemed to piss her off. She thought she was an important part of the process and then got the boot.

I think she always thought there was something "off", but ignored the signs. I think her turning point was when Michonne told her the Governor sent Merle to kill her. That's when she went from "idk lol" to "imma kill this fucker in his sleep."

Theres a youtube vid floating around where the actor that plays Andrea mentions that she went back to WB after her 1st visit to the prison to kill TG. However she couldn't do it and therefore we end up here. I think her turning point happened when she realized what had happened and how far down into the rabbit hole she actually was. Her talk with Michonne helped alot when Michonne stated TG sent Merle to kill her.

Heres the vid..it may help alot of people on here that seem to be way off the mark get a map of where these chararacters are. The Andrea part is @ 3:30ish.

I always took it that her trip to the prison was her epiphany because at the end of the episode she did try to kill the Governor. She failed not because she's a wimp but because she's not been put in the position to kill the living yet like Rick has. For Rick it was Kill or be Killed with Shane and then Tomas. When he failed to kill Andrew he caused Lori and T-Dog to die. And he's still reeling from the effects of those deaths.

Andrea's choice was to be made in cold blood, we don't know if even Rick can kill in cold blood, yet. Hopefully he never will so why would I want Andrea to be able to do that? And even without that, according to the CSI type shows a murderer starts small and builds up. For anyone who becomes a cold blooded murderer I think the Governor scenario would be hard to pull off. It's unrealistic on every level (except maybe the comic but I don't read those).

I never mentally separated Michonne's information from Carol's advice but yeah, that behind the scenes clip puts it nicely. Thanks for posting it.

I agree with your assessment. I think Andrea's awakening has been slow and painful to watch. In part she was unaware of a lot of details that we knew all along but I also think she was willing to rationalize a lot of other things she did know about. She admitted to Phillip that she actually relished the arena fights but she was bothered by the primal instincts they stirred in her. She also clearly gets a great deal of satisfaction out of walker killing as evidenced in the scene where she jumps the wall and shows the girl with the crossbow "how it's done". So, in this new and chaotic world, she is willing to make exceptions for her own and other’s behavior which under pre ZA standards would be seen as sick.

However, I think once Michonne finally told her that TG sent Merle to kill her, Andrea could no longer rationalize what was going on around her. That is when she took Carol's advice and attempted to kill TG. In a recent podcast interview, Laurie Holden said that TG actually wakes up before she can kill him and so she loses her opportunity. But that scene was edited out and she is made to appear indecisive instead. My feeling is that the director did this to keep the audience guessing, will she or won't she. But it also left the audience to question whether or not she really understood how evil TG really was.

She fails at killing the gov because if she killed him how would we have a finale :P?

Andrea has been this years victim of Glenn mazzara he's been giving her bad dialogue/situations .

Ugh why did she have to be in Woodbury in the first place why couldn't Lori or Maggie or someone else :P

To answer your question I do believe she's had to have had her suspicions but at one point it became more about the people in Woodbury rather than one asshole whose doing messed up things. I think where she began to truly want him dead is when he messed with her old group. And when she found out he sent Merle to kill Michonne . At that moment it seemed like she realized she should've let Michonne kill the gov when she walked in on them. After the attack/the trying to find a way to make peace I believe she was done. Milton helped her be even more done. Andrea will turn around, I hope . Because I've always been an Andrea fan

Andrea fans unite :P. yes I would be extremely dissappointed if she doesn't turn around because if she doesn't she's either gonna die or go on the Lori path which means she will become a time bomb as far as death goes

I rhink due to the show runner and how the shows filmed its given alot of confusion and made a mess of things. If that could be avoided the show would be alot simplier to follow.

Thanks for the vid, Zprime. How sad is it that we need something like this to clarify Andrea's thinking and actions?

I think, for her, the candle on the top of the cake was finding out the dipstick might have dipped his stick, forcibly, on Maggie. That may have been the sin that broke her silly illusion of peace between the tribes.

I suppose I thought she "diddnt get it" because she kept returning to the prison, even after the meeting. I see now she wasw hoping to be more effective on the inside getting info, sabotaging plans etc, than she would have been at the prison. Rick may have thought that too when he gave her back the gun and told her to "be careful"

Oh and the thread title I posted it, diddnt get the monkey reference till to day when I sang the song in my head. I have to watch what I put in thread titles. I once Created "Forced to Party" and it was only about feeling obliged to participate in work functions... :rabbit:

I wish....wish....wish the show did a better job @ explaining these things. Honestly just a line put in @ the right spot would make such a difference. Come on writers. She slept with the governor because of Carol's advice to kill him while he was at his weakest, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She let her feeling keep her in denial about how horrid the Govna actually is. IMO she has always known.

According to Laurie Holden, it was her conversation with Michonne at the prison. She said this during the "Inside The Walking Dead" feature for that episode.

i dont think she wanted to believe it so she kept ignoring all the signs & letting him explain things away until he lost interest in her and then she finally clicked onto what was happening
