Not my favorite episode... Pretty good set up episode not as well done as last weeks

Daryl and Martinez bonding sets up either Martinez eventually joining the prison or (more likely) setting up a foundation for the eventual #2 vs #2 showdown between the two!

Honestly, this episode was very boring, however; I know they're just building suspense for the upcoming episodes.

Inducing boredom is the exact opposite of building suspense. Having Rick and the Governor interact in such a casual, boring manner actually dissipated any tension.

There was a lot going on in this episode that didn't make much sense. Why did Rick choose Hershel to come along? Rick is needlessly risking the one man with medical skills again. Why did Rick leave Merle with Glenn and Michonne back at the prison? Rick should have better sense than that. The fact that Rick didn't use the meeting as an opportunity to kill the Governor is truly baffling. I don't remember Daryl ever smoking before this episode; someone correct me if I'm wrong. Glenn worries that Merle's plan would put Rick in danger, but Rick himself is a potential danger. What if Rick went stark, raving mad again, and had one of his hallucination fits while chatting with the Governor? Rick could get everyone killed, including himself. But, they keep deferring to Rick as the leader, despite his serious mental illness. How did the Governor know about Shane? We have to assume that Andrea told him, but did Andrea necessarily know about the affair? And, why the hell would she share such information with the Governor anyway? What happened to the concern over snipers being posted outside the prison? They don't want to waste ammo on the zombies in the yard, and they can't go outside and use melee weapons because there might be snipers in the trees. But, they stand around out in the open anyway. Why exactly does the Governor want to slaughter Rick and his group? The Governor told Milton that it's so they can "stand as one (whatever that means)," but Rick poses no threat to Woodbury. And, why didn't the Governor just slaughter them when he had the opportunity during his first attack on the prison? He ceased attacking prematurely, there.

Oh, and I should add that the scene between Glenn and Maggie was filler, and it had no place in the overall context of the episode.

What in the hell was that? 1 hour of mindless babble!! The only scenes that didn't drive me insane was Daryl and Martinez playing one up and the conversation between Herschel and Rick at the end. The scuffle between Merle and Glenn was totally unbelievable and really Maggie and Glenn making out on watch? Come on really?? I feel myself slowly becoming basher of the writers but its getting ridiculous

After reading this, I want to change my vote from "good" to "fair"
Rick and Guv == boring. Late in the episode when they cut back to them I thought "Aren't they done yet?"
Daryl and Martinez == would have liked more
Glenn and Maggie == not needed

I thought it was pretty funny how they set up the 4 counterparts keeping watch outside the conference. The two Rambos who all the TWD fangirls drool over and the two brains. Other than that.......disappointing episode. Not because of the obvious filler crap, but because Andrea went right back to being a naive moron after previous episodes showing us she's at LEAST wising up a little. It's like none of that happened at all. Made no sense. I agree with others on the unnecessary sex scene. Seemed like a total stupid pair of horny teenagers in a horror flick circa 1988 cliche they resorted to. There was a glaring difference in who wrote this episode and the last one. I just couldn't get past it. It's like when you get this really cool and down to earth substitute teacher and the next day you sigh as your real teacher returns from leave of absence. I didn't hate the episode, it just irritated me consistently like a mosquito bite.

I don't think anything will come of the Martinez scenes. I see that as the writers attempting loosen his loyalty before the final showdown. If the Governor can turn all his close chums against him, that will make the final showdown a lot easier to write, I imagine.

Oh, yeah, another thing. The episode proved that Rick knew about what the Governor did to Maggie, but nobody thought to share this information with Andrea when she visited the prison a few episodes ago. Stupid.

First I wondered how Milton knew Daryl was Rick's right-hand man, then wondered how Guv knew about the baby and everything else about Rick, hell he even even knew about T-Dog...

Fucking Andrea.

I am incredibly biased and I voted excellent as this show and Spartacus are just great to watch every week.

I believe Andrea was trying to appeal to the Gov's sympathies. I think she still believes he's just ruthless not that he actually has a few screws loose.

A lot of people are saying that Andrea is naive?? I'm pretty sure she has a plan up her sleeve. She and the governors interaction at the end proved she didn't believe any of his bullshit and what about the preview of the next episode! I think it is pretty clear she knows that he is crazy.

Loved the interaction with Martinez and Daryl!! I don't think anything will come of them briefly understanding each other; like some other people said, maybe in a different scenario they could be friends. Also loved the showing off their zombie killing skills!

The conversation between Rick and Phillip was good because I think Rick finally got a feel for what the governor is like and how much of a psycho he is.

Overall pretty great episode even if it was just a filler!

Very good episode. Not much in the way of action, but a lot of dramatic tension and dialogue. It had a calm before the storm sort of vibe.

As soon as the governor said, "we have a lot to talk about" I wanted Rick to be all like "no we don't bitch!" And whip out his gun and shoot him. I knew there was no way that this was gonna happen though..

Where does the guv get his never ending supply of whiskey??

Loved the scene between Milton and Hershel! It cracked me up!

Really liked the walker killing bonding time between Daryl and Martinez as well.

I understand why Merle wanted to go and protect Daryl, but that was a stupid thing to even suggest.

Prison scenes were okay, but nothing fantastic. The fight between Merle and Glenn was pretty good. I like how the girls had to break them up. I liked how Beth fired the gun in the air to stop them as well.

The scene between Glenn and Maggie was sweet, but it was a bit excessive.

Some pretty funny lines with the characters teasing each other.

It was a slow ep with dialogue, but I think the slower eps this season are at least serving a purpose to move the plot forward.

Nah it seems like it was cut from the episode... Like I said in another thread, there was already too much cuteness going on with Daryl and Martinez

This episode barely moved the plot forward an inch. Rick now has to make a decision about Michonne. The Governor is going to slaughter Rick's group no matter what. Andrea is getting restless, and is possibly going to make a move against the Governor (finally). We didn't need an ENTIRE episode of Rick chatting with the Governor to establish any of those things. It could've been done in twenty minutes or less.

What's Rick gonna do about Michonne?? Thoughts?

My first thought was that the governor had somebody spying on the prison.

I second that, he seemed to be trying to scare/intimidate rick and basically say he has his eye on him (no pun intended)

Only explanation I can think of is Merle said in a previous episode the Gov would probably have scouts on all the roads. So he probably had someone spying on them somewhere. Although most likely closer to the prison because if he knew about Morgan he would be off getting the rest of those guns instead of talking to Rick.
