After reading some of the speculation about the return of Morgan Jones it got me to thinking... if he is returning this series, have AMC missed a trick by not doing a Christmas Special like the short story we see in the back of Issue 34?
honestly think AMC have missed a trick here. That short story at the back of issue 34 is so simple, its awesome... wouldn't be that long, 5 mins max and would have set us up for Morgans eventual return plus giving us fans something look forward too over this break in the series

More n likely it'll be like the Star Wars christmas special... with Morgan and Duane slogging through hip deep snow in an effort to find Rick and company, they find some survivors, follow them, nearly get run-over by walkers, escape and bump into Glenn and Maggie while they're out on a supply run and follow them to the prison and Michonne is there with a fresh cut Christmas tree decorated with walker parts and Beth sings a lovely christmas carol at the end of the show... all is well...

I don't think so. I never really liked Christmas specials to begin with. It's been a while since we saw Morgan and the writers would have to re-introduce him all over again and it would take more than a one time special to do it. Besides, I like the break even though I would love to continue the story, the break allows for all the Christmas specials to air and you us to do the usual Holiday stuff without fear of missing Walking Dead.

I think the show would be jumping the shark if they did a Christmas special. What would they call it? A Very Bloody Christmas? Christmas With The Walkers? A Christmas Story: Walker Style.

Actually, I kind of like the sound of that last one. They could chop off a walker's leg, stick a lampshade on it, and put it in the front window. Hey, it's a major award!

Ha! Although, in this case a BB to the eye would be a good thing.

I definitely do not want to see "A very special Walking Dead" anytime soon.

haha some pretty damn funny replys! I think the whole concept has been miss interpreted, go read the issue and you will get what I mean, it would be akin to the webisodes not a "holiday special"... It's a really touching insight into morgan and duane's everyday life

I think it could have been done. I would like to see how someone in a ZA celebrates the holidays. It also provide an opportunity to see what surviving in the winter looks like. And Morgan would be the perfect example. Focusing on Morgan right now doesn't impact the story with Rick's group, like the webisodes. I also think that if it is also focused on Morgan it could just be 30 minutes followed by a 30-minute TTD. The only problem I see is weather continuity. I could actually see that working better if <Comic Spoiler>

I would love to see how Morgan and Duane are doing. It would be great to get them back with Rick. It might be hazardous to Morgan's health, though.

No need for it to be Christmas-themed, though.

Ahhh... A Walking Dead Christmas. Take a tree and decoate it with a string of walker-ears, shell casings for bulbs, and set it in the corner above a stack of gifts. But they must be wrapped. No one gives unwrapped presents.

I don't think anyone in the group has made Santa's list, though.

I would think it a good idea if for no other reason than to hype theTWD and Zombie stuff at commercials. Was in some teenager store today with my grandaughter. Asked the salesguy if he had any WD stuff and he had quite a few shirts. Bought myself a Carl shirt to put under the tree.

I love how this legitimate idea turned into this. I'll throw in a more serious comment, and say that would have been excellent. Gives us that slight bit more Walking Dead, and allows them to recreate a well-known comic scene while also fitting it into the theme of the holidays, due to that being the focus of the initial comic scene.

Yes, I apologize for making light of your topic. I think it was just the image that a Christmas special conjures up.

Morgan is a great character and Lennie James is a fantastic actor. Perhaps if Morgan ever does come back to the show, some type of re-introduction would be great.

In case anyone is looking for that awesome Christmas video, it's here. Someone else started a new topic on it and I thought it deserved it's own thread, anyway.
