Re-watching the episode, I noticed when Carol opens the door to escape, she still had her headscarf on. Why was it found next to T-Dog's body?

So maybe she ran off...Came back and saw the Buffet that used to be T-Dog but that Z's were still there chowing away. She took the rag off her head and tossed to the Z's and said... Please wipe yourselves after you are done. However, before that happened Rick splattered their brains all over the wall and D found the scarf and was like...Muther*****rs got to eat her before I did!

This was done really oddly. There was an odd little blood stain by the scarf. Maybe that's the why Daryl assumed she died? I hope she survived. I personally think she's hot. And she's just becoming cool now. And it would be so disrespectful to give her an off screen death with no body even being shown. GAH

It's the Michael Myers rule, if you aren't dead on screen, you ain't dead.

I think it will be interesting to see if either she returns back to the group, or gets the hell out of there with her truck.

Too bad nothing came of her c-section scene with the zombie except notifying viewers of the lurker.

I wonder if she'll go back to the farm and be the tie in to the Merle-finding-brother plotline, although I don't see why she'd go back there.

At the beginning of the epi, I believe Rick send something about the Armory being picked clean. Did anyone else catch this?

Yes, when Rick, Glen, and Daryl went outside the wire, Glenn was about to shoot a walker. Rick told him not to because the armory had been picked clean.

At first I thought she may have returned to put a bullet in T-Dog and her scarf was magically left behind as she ran away.

Also in the old previews Daryl is near a grave at sunset. Is this an empty grave in her honor, since he thinks she is dead? Or, is it T-dogs or even Lori's?...mmm.

After S03:E04 I do not know what to expect. Have to wait and see what happens to Carol.

To be honest, more than wondering where she is - she'll be predictably fine, I'm puzzled as to what was the point of having Carol learning to do a C-section, whenever the baby was eventually delivered by Maggie. For continuity's sake, Carol should have been with Lori cutting the baby out. Lori would have still died, as they were locked in that cell with no equipment or any sort of help.

It appears to me they don't know what to do with Carol; one minute she's training as a midwife and being close to Lori, the next she's cut out of that storyline and disappears instead :smiley-confused002:

Another question since the topic at hand is Carol. I rewatched the episode and I for the life of me cannot understand why she wasn't backing up T-Dogg when he first got bit from behind trying to close the gate, anyone have any thoughts on that?

I mean she goes over to help him, T-Dogg makes his way over to the gate, Carol disappears, T-Dogg gets bit and all of a sudden she's there to witness it, where did she go in the first place ? :smiley-confused002:

Daryl is walking towards Lori's grave only to reveal that HE was the one who impregnated Lori ;) it's good, the group could use a redneck baby.

I noticed that as well. I rewatched it and she clearly has her scarf on

I don't think Daryl has really had a chance to process it yet, for one thing. I noticed that he kept her head scarf(aww). He just looks stunned when he picks it up. But in terms of it working on the show, yeah it would have been weird to have Daryl throw a fit seconds before Rick throws an even bigger fit for Lori. :P

Serenity@sea - yeah I caught that as well, I'll have to rewatch though.

Edit - her scarf wound up by T for dramatic effect, apparently. A bit silly.

I thought he threw the scarf back on the floor?

Yes, when Rick, Glen, and Daryl went outside the wire, Glenn was about to shoot a walker. Rick told him not to because the armory had been picked clean.

I thought that he said - "Don't. IF the armoury has been picked clean, we are running short on bullets". I didn't think they had actally found it yet. I might have to watch a third time ;)

Maybe that is why Carol left!

I am sure she is alive. (Ok so I was positive Andrew was dead LOL)

She is hiding someplace around the prison, I can't see her just taking off alone. Of course she could run into Merle when he escapes from Woodbury!

Carol is nothing more than a big boring plot device for others...... Carol practicing with a walker doing a C-section was for Carol airtime....and to let everyone know that Lori may need a C-section...not because Carol was going to play an important roll in that...

Another question since the topic at hand is Carol. I rewatched the episode and I for the life of me cannot understand why she wasn't backing up T-Dogg when he first got bit from behind trying to close the gate, anyone have any thoughts on that?

Carol backing up someone????????Like she did at the farm..... No way... Carol will always save Carol....JMO

I think Carol is the Grim Reaper of the show..... Anyone who is left with Carol will either be left behind or die...... Sophia, Andrea, now T....

I don't think she's dead... She probably did what she does best, run like hell....She ran and found a place to hide until someone finds her...... I think they will find her, then we will get endless wasted screentime of Carol in Shock, Carol whinning, etc...

Daryl's reaction was Daryl... Yes, they are "Friends", but he's freinds with everyone...... I don't get why anyone would think that Carol's demise would push him over the edge.....but then again, I don't get why anyone likes the plot device...

Carol will show up.....just like the uninvited, annoying guest who shows up at your house and never leaves......but you want them too...

They wouldn't kill her off just yet... that would make too may of us do a happy dance and rejoice that maybe some of the more interesting characters might get more screentime..... Mazzara is sadistic like that....LOL......JMO

This isn't a continuity issue. It is more than possible that a trained individual is not nearby when an event happens, that's life. They trained someone because they wanted back up. Now the group had two trained people plus what Maggie and Beth may already know. Not bad. Sadlly only Maggie was around. The baby lived- If she hadn't have been around. which is possible, maybe both Lori and baby die. Life doesn't go as planned.

Except this is not life but storytelling. So yeah, scenes need to have purpose, continuity and be connected.

I kind of think that if Carol had been with Lori and cut out the baby there would have been a little more backlash when Lori died. As characters go generally Maggie is more well liked that Carol. When Maggie performs the surgery and Lori dies we pretty much accept that nothing else could have been done/Maggie was at fault. If Carol had performed the surgery and Lori dies I feel like although a lot of people would think it wasnt Carols fault, there would also be a group blaming Carol, saying she was stupid thinking she could complete a C-section etc...

Anyway i think Carol is alive for sure, i figure she will be found in a few episodes, i'm wondering who will go looking for her though, with Daryl leaving to get diapers

From what I saw, she had been backing him up, Beth went with her Dad up the steps, while Maggie, Carl, and Lori all ran a different direction, and Carol and T-Dogg headed towards the gate. She cleared out six or seven walkers when he muttered about the gate, and plunged in towards it, while Carol was trying to get to the door. She was WELL behind him by now, because he had ran headfirst into the small swarm to keep more from getting out. I think she thought she had most of them, and was trying to get the door open so they could escape, when the shambler came up behind T-Dog, and she noticed when he screamed.

It was chaos, everyone made mistakes. Glenn couldn't work their tie, Rick forgot the keys/fumbled them, T-Dog really should have called for back-up, and Carol prioritized escape with watching her back. She isn't one of the fighters, but yeah... She fucked that up.

I am in complete and utter disagreement to DDixongirl, BTW. I think her character is making leaps and bounds in improvement, but moments like these show she is still not up to par with the others. She still has growing to do, but I like her character, personally, it is a very realistic one, very watchable.

DDixonGirl you are always moaning about Carol. Leave her be.

Infact I knew there would be someone to say something negative about her this episode.
In is not her fault that T-dog got bitten. Infact, she did a nice thing by staying with him. She could have easily ran off in the first place without him or with Lori and Maggie etc.

Carol is a good addition to the group now.

Everyone seems to be a little to hard up on Carol. Life experinces shows that this woman has gone through a crap load of stuff to be in an right frame of mind.
Abusive husband
Daughter turns into Z
Gets closer to Lori and gets trained to be her midwife almost and wasnt there for delivery
Gets rescued by Andrea and gets Andrea all caught up by Z's
Saved by T-Dog and he dies

I dont know anyone out there that would be in a right frame of mind for anything after all this. I think she knows shes a walking plague.

I actually liked that Carol was the one that was prepared, but the situation took over and Maggie was the one who did it. It really emphasized the fact that even the best laid plans can fall through. There were many people who felt Carol had to be safe because of the role she was to play in Lori's giving birth. The writers have just showed us that it doesn't matter.

I think Carol is still alive, but I just don't care either way. I am not saying that to start an argument about the useless / usefulness of Carol. I just thought that of all the lives to leave in the balance, whether or not Carol survives is by far the least important to me, but also to the group. With Lori's baby delivered Carol really serves no purpose.

I already answered this. TWD is neither a documentary nor a reality show. It's fiction. And fiction goes hand in hand with literary devices/tv tropes which have existed since ever. Good writing doesn't introduce scenes with no purpose, otherwise they're simply fillers.

Now, I can understand the argument of some liking it anyway cause it conveys the fact that planning can go completely pear shaped (although I disagree, Carol performing the C-section and Lori dying would have had the same effect, but given purpose the whole Carol attempting a C-section on a walker, which actually took about 10 min of screen time overall), but the whole "in RL things go like this" is such a lazy excuse. Literary devices are there for a reason, and make the whole fiction experience much more enjoyable.

Something doesn't seem right.
As soon as Rick and Daryl went through that door next to TDog remains they saw Hershel and Beth.
Carol clearly went through that same door to get out and we know that door leads outside because we could see the sunlight. How come she went out but Hershel didnt see her?

My thoughts exactly. I wrote it in a different thread, though! :)

I don't think that they will find her locked in a room somewhere. This disappearance must have a meaning. I'm scared. :srug:

It was clearly shown that they were separated and that the situation was out of anyone's control.

The scenes with Carol practicing a C-section were to show that because Hershel was incapacitated, Carol (who had always been portrayed as a victim) was stepping up and taking control of a situation. I learned a lot about Carol from that scene.
