Kirkman said in a LH that Maggie is keeping her last name as a way of keeping her family aliveDoes anyone remember Glenn's last name? Or was it ever revealed? checks the wiki "Rhee" for the TV show, but comics-Glenn's last name is unknown. I was just wondering, what with the "Ms. Greene" talk; she and Glenn "got married", and so Rick should have been referring to her by her married last name, yes? A minor point of contention, but also a continuity nod, considering his last name was never revealed. Would have been a sly way to reveal it, though.
My opinion of Magna is a little more favorable now.
Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

I miss the days when everybody had animosity towards Rick but tolerated him because they knew they'd be fucked otherwise. I guess everybody at the Hilltop stopped giving a shit about Ethan
Also, some dialogue was really weird this issue, especially with Rick and Maggie. Did Rick need to explain that he shaved to get less attention? I mean, admittedly, I didn't figure that out, but it's such a weird thing for Rick to say out loud in that situation instead of thinking it to himself. I wish Kirkman just let the readers fill in some of the blanks for themselves
And why did Maggie look so much older? I thought she was fine on the 132 cover and "The Farmer's Daughter" poster but she looked like 40 years old here

More interesting was the letter hacks discussing possibly growing poppy. I totally see Ezekiel and Dwight with huge poppy and weed plantations lol. I'd say find the White House and grow it on their front lawn!

Before I forget, we got a Gregory reference! He's still alive, I guess
Thanks Jesus! I can screenshot the pages you were missing yourself. The rest of my digital copy is intact ^__^
Well, if you don't mind (you don't need to post screenshots for these. I just want the lines)...
Page 15, I can't read what that one guy who's kissing Rick's ass is saying
Page 18, I can't read the last two panels with Sutton talking to Carl about the boar
And could you screenshot the Letter Hacks? Every time I scroll down, it just goes to the next page. I'm never using googleplay again *sigh*

A new villainous team that can control zombies does sound rather neat. I mean, there is precedence for being able to tame zombies (Michonne's pets). It can set up a story line where Rick's group is trying to build civilization where the other group is trying to destroy it, because for them, living in a world with the zombies is better.

I think they stopped caring about Ethan an issue after it happened when they realized it was his fault.

Maybe the people with zombie guts are in a particularly thick herd and can't get out without arousing suspicion? Then again, the rain would wash the guts off...
Googleplay sucked ass. First time I used it instead of comixology and it cut off the bottom text for three of my pages. I'm sure the pieces of dialogue weren't that important, but still...
Googleplay-not even once
Here's the page (didn't know if you meant the actual page 2 or the second one with drawings)
Spoiler
Google Play sucks? Huh. I didn't get any cut pages at the bottom. I felt good. But, whatever. Everyone has their opinions.

I really enjoyed the whispers among the heard. They're obviously people but I think it's one of the most interesting little surprises Kirkman has pulled in the series. I think that little Marco/Ken sub story has been one of the better plotted side stories in quite some time and I'm glad it had a good pay off. It added an element of creepiness that I thought lost after seeing pretty much every type of creepy and depraved human in the series by now. And I really liked the "I heard whispers and I was afraid" even though it was also the tagline.
Also, I love that Gregory is still a cock. This book needs a long term asshole who's not some murderous villain!

I'm kind of glad Magna didn't release Negan - though it would have been nice to see more of her & her troupe. That one giant issue introducing them was fine, but they have a _lot_ of development to work in if I'm going to give a damn about them. I suppose it's nice we know their names, at least, unlike the majority of the nameless blokes from The Kingdom who participated in (and died for) the War.
Not saying RK needs to go off and do a huge full issue just on her/her group, but they're still not "solid enough" - if they died by the end of this volume I wouldn't really care.
It was nice to see Maggie - knowing how long she's been around, she has a certain perspective on Rick (and him on her), their little banter back and forth was a bit refreshing. Similar enough to the banter between Andrea & Rick, but different enough to keep it interesting.
I'm curious where Carl is off in a hurry to - the whole sub-arch of becoming an apprentice//coming of age sort of thing is likewise refreshing in a story that treated the character pretty much as a kid too big for his britches. The cover of 131 would lead me to believe he does end up staying - or at least trying - to apprentice as a blacksmith, but with the way he just walked off after meeting Rolland puts a bit of a spin on it. Rick gets what Rick wants, for the most part, him being as "respected" as he is in the communities, but this is Carl - as much as he might want to, he just hasn't been setup to be the kind of kid that would run to his dad to get spoiled.
Or in other words - I hope they don't write Carl up to be the equivalent of a spoiled rich kid getting what he wants at his parent's behest. It just doesn't sit with the way they've built Carl up to be.
And the whole talking dead thing, no precedent for a talker - the most we've gotten out of a dead one before is Gurk and Graaagh, actual intelligible speech after 4-iish years of your mouth & tongue rotting out just doesn't seem like a good path to take it. I'd be more apt to just say the guy has just completely lost it - but the whole "breathers in the herd" thing, controlling where they go - would be a nice spin on things to undermine the whole "herd duty" thing setup by Rick & co.

Welcome, Fenriradra!
I think that little Marco/Ken sub story has been one of the better plotted side stories in quite some time and I'm glad it had a good pay off. It added an element of creepiness that I thought lost after seeing pretty much every type of creepy and depraved human in the series by now.
I liked it, too. I cared about them more than I thought even though you could put both next to each other and I couldn't name which is which. They had their personalities fleshed out pretty well and there was actual fear that they could die considering they're redshirts. The storyline felt like an appeasement for people who want the group back on the road
I always like to think I'd be a cold motherfucker in the apocalypse. I like to think I'd be the guy making the hard decisions. Let the Governor in or let him kill Tyreese? I'd probably let him kill Tyreese. Kill Ben, a child? I wouldn't do it, but I'd probably but my vote in favor. Chop Jessie's arm off? No question
For some reason, the Marco/Ken dilemma got to me. I'm just imagining my best friend right now and imagining us four years into the apocalypse. I'm thinking that if I was Marco and I had to make a decision to leave my best friend behind (possibly my only friend) and the only life at risk for trying to save him would be my own, I think I'd still try my best to save him (despite his pleas for me to leave him behind). I kind of hope Ken ends up living. It's such a simple dilemma in a zombie story but it got to me

Rick the celebrity haha. Hopefully that means he'll grow his hair back out. Maggie looks great and was awesome to finally have some Hilltop action. I too thought naming her and Glenns son Hershel was endearing, but I was expecting something like Glenn Jr. or naming him after one of her brothers. Oh well. Maybe Carl and this Rolland kid can have a rap battle to see who will be Earl's apprentice. Wu Tang!
And talking zombies? I actually yelled out loud, "What the fuck? They're talking now? No way." It's gotta be people hiding in the herd. Or maybe they are talking. This could be related to Heath finding that weird dark zombie forever ago. Maybe they're evolving? Guess we'll find out. I guess if it was done right it could potentially be interesting, but it seems like a pretty dumb idea. I mean, who watched Land of the Dead? Are we gonna get Teh Walking Dead's version of Big Daddy? Please.
I'm interested to see if there will be any interaction between Carl and Sophia next issue. Maggie made it sound like she's still got some major issues. Understandable. Oh and yeah, at least Magna isn't a dumbass.

For you guys with cut off and missing pages, there's always YouTube...it's not something I'd usually recommend, but hey, you paid for your comics already and not being able to enjoy the issue at it's fullest is bullshit.
I though Maggie looked pretty hot actually, Jesus! The panel of Carl yawning looked kinda weird though, something about the arms. And all I can say about the (slim) possibility of talking zombies is the first line spoken better be "Dude...cut that fucking mop and lose the necklace. Seriously."
