Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?
Someone didn't update Maggie that Hershel is only a name suitable for an old man :/
Anyway, I liked the issue. Too brief, but that's really my complaint with a lot of them. Magna didn't release Negan, so everybody can put their pitchforks down. I don't really have much else to say. So much for getting the ball rolling
Though, I do think those "whispers" are just people covered in zombie guts. Kirkman has said many times we'd never get smart zombies

Is it safe to assume that synopsis was fake? I'm not asking to know what happened if it is.

100% fake. Maggie was in the issue, though, so there was like 2% truth to it

Maybe the people with zombie guts are in a particularly thick herd and can't get out without arousing suspicion? Then again, the rain would wash the guts off...
Googleplay sucked ass. First time I used it instead of comixology and it cut off the bottom text for three of my pages. I'm sure the pieces of dialogue weren't that important, but still...
Googleplay-not even once
Here's the page (didn't know if you meant the actual page 2 or the second one with drawings)

Also, looking at this issue, it's really apparent how clunky Kirkman is with his writing, especially with regards to cliffhangers. He should write out an entire volume and then split it up into six parts because a lot of these issues strung back to back won't make a great narrative
Magna finds Negan-->Magna might release Negan-->Magna doesn't
This can easily change to:
Magna believes Rick
Rick gets shot with possibly infected bolt--->Rick is afraid he'll die--->Bolt isn't infected--->Rick doesn't die
Changes to:
Rick doesn't get shot, doesn't die

I enjoyed the issue, also had the part about Magna saying "Not buying it" missing from the google play copy...
I was quite alarmed when they were lying in the trench and the walkers "spoke"... I cant see how its going to be people though... or why the people would be walking around with a herd... doesnt make any sense to me... And if they are covered in guts the rain would be a huge problem...
If the walkers are starting to communicate its going to open up a whole new can of worms... But I highly doubt that is the case... I just cant give a good enough reason for people to be chilling around in a herd of Zombies...
My first reaction to baby Hershel was 'Awwwww she called the baby Hershel I might cry' followed swiftly by 'that is not a good name for someone who isn't 86'
I was so thrilled to see Maggie because I wasn't expecting it this issue, I thought the cliffhanger of the issue would be Rick and Carl arriving at the gates of the Hilltop.
As much as i'd like to see Negan run off to the sanctuary and find some people still loyal. But I like that Magna saw through it, it makes Magna nowhere near as thick as we were ready to write her off as, also for Negan to be freed 4 issues after he was locked up would be far to soon.
The whispers has to be a Kirkman troll. I will stake my life on this statement right now THERE WILL NEVER BE TALKING ZOMBIES. It must be as others have said maybe people in guts walking in the herd.
Also I bought it on Google Play and the bottom centimetre of the pages were cut off which made me miss several bits of dialogue. The scene where people were excited about meeting Rick. The scene where Carl gave Sutton the shitty whittling of a pig.
Enjoyed this issue, was really nice to see one of the other communties.
And im liking the two characters (the ones running from the herd) they dont feel like the usual community background noones.
Interested about the ''talking'' not sure what to make of it, initial reaction was the guy is mental, from the trauma of leaving his friend, an that disappointed me, but then I thought, the only other person whos been mental (properly, not psychotic) as far as i remember was Carol, so how would they handle someone that is potentially dangerous because of a mental condition, would they have to lock them up for their an everyone elses safety? Hoping Kirkman comes up with something a lot more interesting than that tho.
if its talking zombies? Time to put the book down.
But we all know what the whispers really are
It's in the 130 predictions. Magna kills Negan and Maggie throws Ken to a herd of zombies because he's weakJust out of interest what was the fake synopsis?

Good issue. The zombies aren't talking; that shouldn't even be an option to be discussed. It's a device; WE know zombies can't talk, but in-world....who "really knows"? They still don't know jack about the zombies, other than "kill the head, kill the zombie". After being stuck on the road, starving and scared, the guy babbling about whispers doesn't have the wherewithal to think that sort of thing through. His tired, weary brain "heard the dead whisper", because why the fuck not? Everything else is bad, so the zombies might as well get worse, yeah?
Does anyone remember Glenn's last name? Or was it ever revealed? checks the wiki "Rhee" for the TV show, but comics-Glenn's last name is unknown. I was just wondering, what with the "Ms. Greene" talk; she and Glenn "got married", and so Rick should have been referring to her by her married last name, yes? A minor point of contention, but also a continuity nod, considering his last name was never revealed. Would have been a sly way to reveal it, though.
My opinion of Magna is a little more favorable now.
Glenn never had a surname in the comics... well he did obviously it just wasn't mentioned. He was just Glenn, like Cher.
OMG its the Others how did I not pick up on it. Any other LOST fans back in the day remember all the trying to pick out words in the whispers and the famous one we thought we deciphered 'there's somebody coming.... sounded like Desmond'.
