In the aftermath of the unthinkable
Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?
I can only hope he gets one more cock chomp in before his end.
Spoiler
Man, that panel still fucks me up. It hurts just watching it.
I mean....How? How did Euge do that?
HOW DO YOU BITE SO HARD THAT BLOOD IS INSTANTLY GUSHING OUT? THROUGH DENIM?
IS EUGE REALLY A DUNKLEOSTEUS IN DISGUISE?
.......
I mean, put a mullet on that, and you got Eugene.
The Eugefish.
.....
Alright guys, time for an edit request again. It is obligatory by now. We fans have created such class work as Lemonnegan and President Negan.....But now it's time for Euge to shine.
Time to put a mullet on that fish.
All the reps for those that can do it.

"...and I won't to anything to jeopardize that...now matter how many genitals you sever." - Eugene
This has got to be one of the top ten best quotes from the Walking Dead ever!
Great issue, lots of stuff happening. Alexandria isn't the only thing that was let go; Rick left the Lori phone. Zeke, unlike Negan, is still unable to find his balls, but I feel like Euge won the award for the biggest set of testes in the issue.
I want more!
RIP Denise (and the other people we've never heard about). That was a sad scene, we haven't had anything like that in a while. Poor Heath. I didn't realize that Rick still had speed-dial-to-Lori with him. Glad he left it behind and I'm glad Rick decided everyone was going to Hilltop. May not have as nice accommodations, but it seems defensible as hell and with Rick being there I'm sure he'll take charge (If Maggie lets him haha) and rally an even bigger army to take on the Saviors & Negan. Definitely hope the Euge doesn't die, he's started to grow on me a lot more. He's one tough son of a bitch and it's good that Dwight didn't mention the ball munching he experienced from the Euge in the past. I was totally expecting Eugene to chomp Negan's nuts when he was flashing his "crystal balls" in front of his face. Haha. Kind of wish he had, but then Euge would probably be minced meat from Lucille by now. Anyway, decent issue, kinda filler and not my favorite from this arc, but necessary setup for the conclusion.
Even the back of his head is irritating.
Anyway. Good issue. Not action packed, but a lot seemed to happen. I knew it was gonna be a quick read after the last issue. The only thing I found myself really disliking was the pace. There's no way Heath loses a leg and then is awake, not to mention walking around, like an hour later. He didn't even seem to be in pain.
How did Rick convince everyone to leave so quickly? Most Alexandrians have been there for years. I think this issue could've benefited from being split into two. Action is fine, but it's nice to get some dialogue, too. In fact, I prefer the dialogue. This issue was pretty clunky. I wish we could've seen Rick talking to the Alexandrians. I really hate that we didn't get their reaction after the attacks. What are they thinking? There's children in this community and women... I think it would've been nice to see their reactions and coming up to Rick to talk. I would've rather seen that than Ezekiel wasting my time with his flip flopping nonsense.
That "wimp" moment between Rick and Carl was weird. Was Carl meant to be joking? It just came off kinda awkward.
I felt bad for The Euge, but I'm glad he's standing up for himself. That sucks that no one is going to get him and I hate that we were cheated out of a reaction from Rosita. Still, Eugene is very resourceful and is a good liar, so I wouldn't be surprised if he got himself out of this one. Hell, maybe Dwight will help him.
I had no idea Rick still had the telephone. Glad he ditched it. No more Spring for you, Rick Grimes, we're switching you to Verizon.
DR. YUM!!!!!!!!!!
Ezekiel needs to pay a visit to Dr. Yum's gynecologist office. With every issue I dislike him more and more. Oh, boo hoo. Michonne, you could do so much better. Hint hint, Jesus.
Speaking of Jesus, hello, unbuttoned shirt! I get the feeling I'm gonna have a Tina Belcher-esque dream tonight involving Jesus, Dr. Yum, and some zombies. The more the merrier.
Can't wait for the next issue. I wonder what's gonna happen? Sucks that I don't have crystal balls.
PS I loved the one panel of the back of Father Gabriel's head haha I was like 'oh yea that guy'
*jumps down from top of thread to answer this post*
Yeah, man. I loved that scene too....Too see it walk away....So emotional. So majestic.
FUCKING A-GRADE EMOTIONAL SCENE RIGHT THERE, KIRKMAN.
*applause*
Kirkman did promise us more from Gabriel...TROLLED!
*peeks out from Axel's room-door*
Whatchu talking bout, Axel?
That was the best part of the issue.
The back of Gabe's head has seen many things in it's days. It was there during the Normandy.
It was there when Caesar got shanked.
(It travels down along Gabe's bloodline, and every newborn son has the ''back of the head''. So...no, Gabe is not a Timelord.....As far as I know.)
It has so much to tell, but so little time. Always busy dealing with.....head-stuff....i guess you could call it...thinking?
I'm serious, the back of his head's character development could fill up two All-Out War-length arcs.
BY ITSELF.
That is why he so rarely appears (if you look back at Gabe's panels, you'll see that the back of his head is either in profile or not shown at all. It is so majestic a thing that characters have gone blind from looking at it for short periods of time. And as it's glow radiates onto Gabe, he too has some of that blinding glow to him...hence why he is usually locked up in his church.)
......
And to get back to what's really important, WHY HAS NO EUGEFISH EDIT BEEN DONE YET?
I NEED DAT FUCKING MULLET FISH.
*shrieks in discomfort and lack of patience*
