Every major arc in the Walking Dead has had a major death at the end which acts as the "payoff" for lack of a better word. Lori was the big death at the end of the prison arc, Dale was with Fear the Hunters, Morgan was with No Way Out (though since he hadn't done much, you could argue that Jesse and Ron's death were, or Carl losing his eye.) People will definitely die soon. I think that's a given. We're going to be saying goodbye to the most beloved ASZ citizens like Barbara and Erin. I feel like there has to be a big death to make one final bang at the end of this. Who do you think it will be? I know a lot of people have been saying Michonne or Jesus and I can't help but feel inclined to agree.

Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

There aren't that many big characters left. If Kirkman was going to do another arc as big as the Saviors' arc, there aren't many other people left that he could kill that would be that significant

Michonne
Maggie
Andrea
Carl
Rick
Jesus (for some)

That's about it. He needs to develop these underused characters because right now he has less emotional chords to tug on. Near the end of the prison arc there were so many people I cared about still alive

(All listed above except Jesus)
Tyreese
Glenn
Dale
Hershel
Billy
Alice
Axel
Lori
Judith (Just because she was a baby)

Everyone of those killings was emotionally brutal and the only good thing about it was most people got painless head shots. If all the people you listed died, I'd only be sad about Michonne and Spencer, but that's just because the meme thread would end.

Yes - This is reason for me to think - a couple of "new" Alexandria characters gonna live after Saviors arc. I think most interesting can be Heath. Maybe Aaron and Nicholas - three different men who gonna lose family/partner.

The thing is, when Kirkman has expendable characters (Julie, Chris, Susie, Rachel), he gives them really gruesome and memorable deaths.

To you maybe but there are plenty of characters that are not huge in backstory that i would hate to see go.

I agree that Michonne is not long for this world. She's just been around so damn long with almost no character development in later issues, but has gotten some more focus in the last couple of issues; right in time for the slaughter. Hmmm.... Plus she's way too useful. Useful people tend to have a way of dying in Rick's group, aside from Andrea and Michonne(so far).

I also think Eric or Aaron (most likely Eric) will die, along with Rosita or Holly. Spencer is way too dumb to live. There's not a chance he survives the Saviors. I think Jesus will survive a little longer, past everything going on with the Saviors.

Hopefully Kirkman will prove me wrong with some of these guesses. He's at his best when he's being unpredictable.

We're going to be saying goodbye to the most beloved ASZ citizens like Barbara and Erin.

Lol. Barbara and Erin will outlive everybody.

at this point for me its really hard to predict correctly who will live past and die in this saviors arc i just hope we can see some more development for characters like aaron, eric, heath, denise, olivia, spencer, nicholas, holly, rosita, father gaybriel, eugene, erin get some development before more bodies start dropping because idk why but i feel once theirs a death from alexandria more deaths will quickly follow of all the minor characters id say only eugene has gotten some development lately but not a problem for me as i like eugene and dont want to see him die yet.

my guesses:

spencer: (after his prayer scene) i think that he will go to negan to try and sort something out. negan will then give him the iron for betraying his friends.

Michonne- executed. not sure how but i think her time is short. like others have said she doesnt seem to be doing much lately

Kal- jesus' gonna kick his arse

dwight- killed by negan after he gets lucille happy all up in sherry's face and dwight attacks him

dr cloyd and heath- one will go down, the other tries to help and gets killed too

a few randoms from alexandria- people we know the names of, like barbara and erin, who are seemingly innocent will get caught up in the middle of a battle i reckon

Kill me if it does. I don't care if it ramps up the pace but if it stays it this consistent in space, I'll die. I think at the latest, the Saviors arc will end at the end of Volume 20 and then we'll be dealing with the Kingdom

Yeah but there still planning out their attack on Negan never mind trying to over throw him and take out his army. Its going to take some finèst to beat this guy. And some smart thinking. If the saviors are over by volume 20 I'd feel like itd be too soon and unrealistic. Only way I could see that happening is if the rest of volume 19 they get everyone from the kingdom and hilltop a d go to the sancturary.

I'm not sure why people feel like there are less main characters than in the prison. Eugene, Rosita, and Gabriel have all been around for more issues than Lori was, and Arron, Eric, Heath, Denise, Olivia, Spencer and Nicholas are all about to be. With the prison survivors that makes 16 characters that have been around for 40+ issues. That's more longer lived characters than in the prison arc at all.
