Do you think they'll anything special for the wedding? I didn't enjoy the proposal as much as I thought I would! But maybe the wedding will be pretty good!

I think they'll be very lucky if they actually live to get married at all. I'm very concerned their engagement is a signed death warrant. :(

I think the wedding will get interupted by the gov but I think it'll be a nice wedding, I can see the girls going all out while the when men prep the prison...I was soo disappointed by glen's non-proposal. A romantic proposal is better than a ring.

Personally, I don't think marriage really has a place in this world but a symbol of love does. So if that's what the ring is gonna do, then do it. However, I am worried that should a character show any happiness something bad is going to happen. I really hope it doesn't in this instance. The story line needs some semblance of normality.

My exact thoughts when this happened too. Whomever starts talkin about nice or happy things ends up dying soon thereafter.

Was "the ring" what Glenn was doing with the walker at the fence? I couldn't see what he was doing... it looked like he tucked something into the female walker's dress.

Did he break the ring off her finger then tuck the finger back in?

He snipped the walkers fingers off with some gardening sheers (or something like that), to get her ring. Very romantic. :) :P

Rick and the group have made some, to use a kind term, "questionable" decisions, but taking the time to try to put together and execute a wedding under the looming threat of a war would be beyond stupid. I think if Glenn and Maggie both live to get married, it will be AFTER the Governor arc is put to rest, one way or another.

How Glenn came to have that diamond ring was creepy, gross and incredibly unromantic. I found it hard to believe that Maggie accepted it so readily. Didn't she stop to think,, "Where the hell did this come from?" That really didn't work for me.

On the other hand, so to speak, maybe the writers were trying to create some kind of irony from that scene. Glenn clips a walker's finger to give Maggie an expression of his love and TG bites off Merle's fingers as an expression of his hate.

I got a little choked up at the "proposal". But it worked because it was quick and simple. If they had dragged it out with Glenn making some corny speech and getting down on one knee, it would've been cheesy I think. Gimple handled it correctly. I hope the wedding is quick as well. Maybe an episode opening.

If it wasn't the ZA, yeah it would be weird. But since it is the ZA, he made do with what options were available to him. At least he cleaned it up first. :)

What proposal? Glen never asked. Getting down on one knee would've been corny but he proposed more to hershel than he did to maggie.

Yeah, I hear you. I accept a lot of stuff being due to the ZA. But that one...I'd rather get a beer pop top for a ring than one culled off a walker.

in the comic, but I don't think it was a coincidence that Merle lost those same two fingers.

If he had just said "Will you marry me?" I think I would have been happy. It should have been simple, I agree, but I needed that one sentence.

I think the way it was done was perfect for the characters and the events that are unfolding. A big, romantic gesture would have been absurd at that moment; they don't know what is going to happen and they are preparing for a final battle with TG.

Historically, there are a lot of marriages just before momentous, life-threatening events. Do a little research on how many couples got married during WWII after knowing each other for just a few days. It happens. If someone thinks they might not live, they tend to want the people they love to know just how much they are loved.

I think the actual marriage ceremony, vows, declaration, whatever, will happen after the battle with TG. They might not show it at all; it's not actually that important to the story arc. Glenn and Maggie (if they live though the finale) will probably just be shown as married in season 4, with no hoopla at all. Or Rick and Co. could have the wedding as a kind of celebration if they survive TG.

My point is that it is entirely believable; much more so than if Glenn had gotten on one knee or made a corny speech or something like that. The ring said it all. Maggie understood and said yes. If they die tomorrow, Maggie knows how much Glenn loved her and Glenn knows how much Maggie loved him; there are no more doubts.

This is pretty much exactly what my thoughts are regarding the proposal and the wedding. +1 for the eloquent post.

That's why I put proposal in quotations. It wasn't really one, but he gave her a ring and she said yes, the end result was the same.

Glen told Hershel he didn't even need a wedding. He just needed to let her know how he felt. One knee with a fistful of flowers would have been way too soap opera. I just wish the finger was still attached like in Beetleguese. "I swear, she meant nothing to me"

I think what we saw was the proposal and wedding. I hope they don't waste any more time (in the limit amount there is) of the show on a wedding that don't mean anything. In the ZA a simple handshake and kiss could work as a wedding.

I hear what you are saying, and I don't know that we will get a wedding in the show, but it was one of the few times that I teared up while reading the comic, so I'd like to see it.

Yup. I agree. Especially, since he told Herschel he didn't need a wedding. And I think it was absolutely perfect.
Having a ring is a last tie in to the old world. But the way he had to get it, an acknowledgement of the harsh new reality.
