In an effort to prevent any more deaths, Rick and the Governor meet to come up with a peace treaty.

LOVED this episode even though it was more of a lead-up. We got more Glenn and Maggie (my tv cut for a second when Maggie was on top, I was so pissed) AND we got some badass interactions with Daryl and Martinez.

Alright episode, cool to see Rick and the Gov have face time with each other.

Also maybe I'm looking too far into this but did anyone notice the governor when referring to merle, said "he gets the dirty jobs done" with a smile. I know it's a reach but it could be a possible hint at a betrayal by merle that some were speculating. Again i doubt it with Darly being his brother and all but just speculating.

Agreed, it was a bit of a let down since last week was SO good, but it provided needed set up for the rest of the season.

Honestly, this episode was very boring, however; I know they're just building suspense for the upcoming episodes.

I enjoyed the conversations between Rick / The Governor and Daryl / Martinez.

I got those vibe too. Merle is up to something.

Loved this episode even though I missed the first 12 minutes :/

I just love how everyone is finally seeing the Gov for what he is. Andrea, wow..I felt really bad for her in this episode. The fact that she was sitting by herself the whole time really shows how isolated she feels. Glad Hershal gave some kind words. Not sure what to make of Daryl/Martiniz interaction, I didn't really enjoy it but it looks as though Martinez could be tempted by the friendly folk in Rick's group.
The Rick/Gov interaction was interesting, disappointed that Rick is trusting the Gov for even a second. The Maggie/Glenn stuff was a bit heavy. I'm not looking forward to re-watching this with my mum when it airs on Friday :P

It was a pretty decent episode. I'm usually a defender of slow episodes but this one didn't go anywhere for me. I'm glad Andrea is coming to realizations about the gov though.

I noticed that it said explicit sexual content and I was wondering who it was gonna be between and during Merle and Michonnes talk I was afraid. Thank God that didn't happen.

I found Rick and the Govs meeting very boring.

I lol'd at Beth stopping the Merle and Glenn fight.

The last few minutes were great and I'm liking the addition of the songs that have been on. I think they took a break with doing songs at ends of episodes until recently.

Herschel had the best dialouge of the episode in my opinion.

Where was carol?

Overall the episode made me more excited for next episode rather then being excited during the episode. Favorite parts were Herschel and Milton's interraction. Beth and the gun and Michonne proving her loyalty more by not going with Merle

Meh. Average at best.. Probably the main complaint here is that the episode seemed pretty choppy. Back and forth between all these different subplots every few seconds. It feels like they think the audience has ADHD or something and can't stand watching a single scene for two or three minutes without getting bored. As a result of this, the narrative tonight was incredibly aggravating to follow along with.

Other big problems I had with it:

- The extended scene of Maggie and Glenn getting frisky was totally out of place and a waste of time; what, are they trying to compete with FX and HBO now?
- Carol was barely on screen throughout the whole episode (and when she was, she was nothing more than a background extra). Not okay in my book .

Here's my review, overall I thought the episode was just okay (I voted fair), some highlights to be sure but one of my least favorite episodes of the season. Although I totally could be biased since I thought the last episode was so good and this one was just a build up.

-Am I the only one surprised Andrea got them together to talk in the first place? After the whole "no resolution" attitude of two episodes ago I would have liked to have seen exactly what she said, especially to make Rick come along. Of course both Rick and the Gov came there knowing this wouldn't be a happy ending, like Martinez pointed out. But in that case why meet at all? The potential for either to be walking into a trap would seem to great to go. I'm wondering if the Gov did have more men in waiting hiding because only sending Martinez and Milton for backup doesn't seem smart at all.

-I'm surprised Andrea didn't know about Maggie. You would have thought someone would have told her.

-I thought Rick was going to jump across the table and snatch an eye patch when the Gov said Judith probably wasn't his. The look on Rick's face was one who was ready to kill, great scene.

-Just decided I really want Daryl and Martinez to have a bromance. I totally ship that. Love them both and they seem like under different circumstances would be good friends. Hopefully he makes it out of the Woodbury drama in one piece.

-Love Milton putting back on his glasses and going into scientist mode once he found out how Hershel lost his leg. I love Hershel's humor about it though.

-Merle's scene seemed off to me. Not that I don't think he would want to go off after his brother but it seemed like he would have thrown that mini-shit-fit before Daryl left and not after. By the time Merle would have agreed to let Daryl go I thought he would have made his peace with it, or at least that Rick would have the good foresight to lock him in a cell. I still wouldn't have trusted Michonne around him lol.

-Thought the Maggie and Glenn sex scene was a bit random. I don't know why they chose this exact time to focus on it story wise. For me it kind of threw off the momentum and I kept tensing up hoping that something didn't jump out of the corner to attack them because we all know the writers like to throw those surprise douchey deaths on us this season. Oh well, Maggie is hot and fan boys are probably super happy.

-Honestly I still don't see why they just don't run (other than it wouldn't make for as an exciting story). They act like the prison is as cushy as the CDC was, doesn't seem worth all of the trouble. Seems like it would be easier to just fortify another building somewhere safer.

It was a pretty good setup episode but it was a bit too convenient for Michonne to bond with Rick/Carl in the episode just prior.

EDIT: Not just the fanboys. All the women watching in my house turned the volume way up when that Maggie/Glenn scene was going on.

I'm surprised Andrea was able to get them together within a day - the Guv pretty much implied that it had only been a day since Rick returned from King County so how the hell was Andrea able to set up a simple meeting in that short time?

I agree. I could have done without the Maggie and Glenn sex stuff. And i missed Carol this episode.

I rated it excellent.

This episode fleshed out the governor a bit more. He told Rick in no uncertain terms that he's willing to kill women and children for no reason other than him not getting his way.

What in the hell was that? 1 hour of mindless babble!! The only scenes that didn't drive me insane was Daryl and Martinez playing one up and the conversation between Herschel and Rick at the end. The scuffle between Merle and Glenn was totally unbelievable and really Maggie and Glenn making out on watch? Come on really?? I feel myself slowly becoming basher of the writers but its getting ridiculous

+1 for this post. Especially for the bold part. I thought I would be the only one who thought this episode was choppy so I didn't mention it in my review because I knew people would probably just think I'm nit-picking as I due tend to be more critical of cinematography and editing choices. For me it wasn't just the switching of subplots that made it that way but in some of the scenes there were these really long pauses in conversation where they would pan out on the characters before someone said anything or they cut to a different scene. It didn't come across that well to me and it broke up continuum and made it a bit awkward imo.

Lots to like in this episode!

Thoughts:

I appreciated that they didn't waste time on the setup of the negotiations but just cut right to the chase.
Who else LOLed when Andrea was kicked out of the conversation? God her naive "can't we all just get along" bit made me want to die. But that might just be because its Andrea...
When did little nerdy baseball cap wearing Glenn get all hot? Glenn, I will have your Asian babies. As soon as I'm done with Daryl.
I loved the scenes where the prison folks were mingling with the Woodbury guys. I got the warm fuzzies when Daryl offered Martinez a smoke. Enjoyed their little badass war.
I get that rick needed Daryl in case things went south with the guv, but it surprised me when he left Merle alone at the prison.....
Hershels "Buy me a drink before I show you my stump." Was brilliant.

Set things up for the rest of the season, but a solid "meh" overall.
Glenn and Maggie's sex scene was a little longer then it needed to be IMO.
Was excited after hearing Andrea and Hershels conversation...but then she got in the governors car and went back to woodbury.

Edit: I guess we're left to assume how the meeting was set up and how Andrea knew about that place. Also how did the governor know Rick brought back all those guns?

Yeah I was super confused on that because they both were pretty adamant before about there being no other resolution except one of them dying. Not to mention both Merle and Michonne have always been vocal about the Gov not being able to be reasoned with. Lol perhaps this is the writers way of coping out of having to write that scene.

Something else I am curious about is where exactly that meeting place was, looks to be like somewhere in the middle of the two places.
