The way some people talk about the characters like they're real people, makes me wonder...

Wasn't their a guy that killed his GF because she told him that the zombie apocalypse wasn't real? I think this was a couple months ago.

I'd hate to be that guy, but... Why are they only just writing an article on information that's been out for what--a year-and-a-half? Late...

Regardless of timeliness, yes it is absolutely appalling how some people handle the threshold that lies between reality and entertainment. It's awesome of you take your media seriously, and let it have effects on your life, but be smart about it--retain control of yourself. Are you really going to threaten an actress for wonderfully acting out a great scene that she was paid to do? Pathetic.

Back when I was younger, I remember when the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise switched out voice actors due to contractual conflicts... Just about all of the then-new voice actors received countless death threats because they weren't the original voice actors. I wasn't apart of that silliness, but I knew other kids online who succumbed to the illogical threats.
In retrospect, all of the voice actors for Sonic--old and new--were absolutely awful. Still, none of them deserved death threats for doing their job to the best of their abilities. Though, what they did deserved, was a swift firing, and a rude awakening that would've involved them re-examining their opportunities in life.

Point is, there's nothing wrong with Laurie Holden here. The fault lies within the crazed fans who need some serious psychological help. Fans of anything have this lovely tendency to over-react about just about anything.
I hope Holden knows now that she doesn't really have much to fret about. These threats are always empty. The threat making fanboys/girls are no more harmful than the sexually-depraved shippers. She just needs someone to sort out her mail/tweets/etc. for her ;)

Alternatively, you could also just call me Soiled_Panties, on account of how pissy I can be.

There's a gif of Ms Holden giving a chat at some award ceremony and Mr. Reedus sneaks up behind her and gives her a peck on the cheek and she responded nicely about it... perhaps the one throwing idiotic death threats around needs to see that and maybe in their screwed up head they'll say to themselves... Oh, Daryl forgives her... okay, I won't kill her then.

Stop the planet I wanna get off!

I remember hearing about things like this happening in the early days of television, an actor/actress playing a bad person, and someone approaches them and chews them out for what they did on TV.

IMHO, a large segment of society have invited themselves into the lives of actors/actress. I remember in my youth, hating Bette Davis after first seeing her in the role of an evil woman. Then, I grew up and realized she was simply an actress doing an excellent job.

Some celebrites do the invitations themselves by creating tweets to be followed by fans. It's disgusting that there are no longer any barriers into private lives. The autopsy reports on Whitney Houston (including work she'd had done on her body) flared my anger and indignation. It was none of our business, yet there it was. Because there is $$ to be made by the entertainment industry.

They've revealed these celebs to such degree that some now think they have the "right" to invade their space and that their opinions matter in how they conduct their personal relations, marriages, divorces, health issues - and even pry into their deaths.

How out of touch with reality does someone have to be to threaten the life of a celebrity? The gossip industry is pulling some disturbed minds into thinking they somehow have a stake.

Some people just don't have a grip on reality. They can't discern the difference between real and entertainment.

Geez that is just outrageous. I know that its a tad late for the article but death threats over a character who she has no control of but acting out lines is unreal. People need to get a grip on reality and stop being so stupid. Its a tv show and thats it.
