Hey everyone,

So I was bored and decided to analyse the cliffhanger, I ended up writing a long post on my blog analysing the chances of each character having been 'Lucilled'.

Here it is if you're interested in reading even more analysis: http://www.olinorwel...did-negan-kill/

Someone posted a big Eugene theory in the comments section that I won't repeat here as it isn't my theory, but I think it's really interesting. Basically if you let yourself assume Eugene was a spy for the Saviours, then the whole episode makes a lot more sense. Anyway this is the first piece I've written about The Walking Dead, any feedback would be much appreciated! I hope you find it enjoyable to read.

Cheers,

Oli

That makes sense, because they had Eugene alone for an unspecified period of time before the dick biting sequence. And we know Eugene can live a lie. He could at least have told them Alexandria was allied with the Hilltop and that Denise was a doctor. He could even have walkie-talkied that they were all heading to the Hilltop in the RV. But the trap they set was still ridiculously elaborate and requiring of what seemed like prescience on the part of the Saviors, which Eugene could not help with.

The "Eugene as Mole" theory is quite interesting.  I know that when Eugene bit the Saviors wiener I was wondering why he did not just shoot him or break his skull.

And, as noted, the Savior trap required an amazing prescience to pull off.

On the other hand, I don't know if he writers are all into traitors or complex plots.

Still, it makes loads of sense.

Watching the episode back I drew out the positions of each character then tried to count along with each "eenie" "meenie" "miney" "mo" just out of curiosity .

At first I thought Negan started counting straight along the line from Rick through to Glenn before skipping back along the line, continuing on with Sasha through to Eugene. The next characters pointed out seem to be random, from various positions along the line. HHmmmmm :smiley-confused002: So I thought it didn't make sense for Negan to start by counting down the line in order only to then start moving along it randomly. So ignoring the images I counted the next 10 beats until the "you.......are........it" which would be ................... GLENN

BUT then taking another look it seems like Neegan skips ahead from Michonne straight to Glenn at the end of the line, before turning back to Rosita and Daryl. So who knows :wallmad:

The Eugene as a mole theory just blew my mind.

Lyrad13:

Indeed! That would be interesting, and something new. I don't think TPTB get that sophisticated on TWD. Remember where we thought there was a mole at the Prison? Turned out not to be. And my own pet theory that Enid (whom I hate) is a mole.

But the "Eugene" theory would be a whopper, and get TWD back in business in a big way.

Theres no way to know from the Miinee mo sequence, because
at the end of it, the visual and audio tracks were playing independently
and not in synch. Done on purpose of course-if they dont want you to
know, then you dont get to know.

Eugene theory doesn't work because:

Spoiler

It just wouldn't make any sense. Besides, Eugene was with Abe and Rosita since Texas. He met the Saviors when everyone else did. The only way this works, is if they did some clever backstory/flash back stuff of how it all happened and why etc and that would most likely take up an entire episode ala Morgan. Do you really want a full "nothing but Eugene" episode? lol

I think the Eugene theory is reaching.

Hmmm...if that is the case, I could see that being the season 7 opener. The episode would first show us how they convinced Eugene (maybe be promising safety for him AND Rosita as Eugene has a thing for her), then rehash the finale, but from Eugene's perspective. The theory is that Eugene led them into each roadblock, basically handing them over to Negan. The end of the episode would be the eenie, meenie, scene....only this time, we see who it is.

Of course, I also doubt the writers are that elaborate. The story lines that didn't exist in the source material (Beth/hospital) weren't that great, so I'm not sure they could pull this off. But it sure would be interesting!!

Great analysis norwello and pretty much what I was thinking in terms of the likely candidates. My top two are Abraham, then Eugene.

Nah...they got to Eugene after Abe left him. Eugene was told that eventually the team would be captured and that he would live. That is why he volunteered to be on the rv.

Since we have several other threads discussing who died, I'm going to go ahead and close this. You can continue the conversation here.
