Or...you know, Jesus.

Or any adult with any sort of leadership skills.

Carl as a leader aint happening. Atleast not until he's older or something. If he were to become one, I'd call bullshit. It'd only happen if all the other main characters who could take that place were dead.

It would be cool, aye, but no (in the comic or in real life) community would follower a leader that is just 13 years of age. No matter how hardend, wise, etc etc, he is.  They'd just see him as a kid.

It's not an guerilla (where that sort of thing actually happens at times) we are talking about.

you know, the more i think about it, i think the hilltop is doomed. jesus lives at asz, doubt he takes over there, and with the whisperers on the front porch and the other communities being wholly unaware of them, it's not looking good. wouldn't be surprised to see carl forced to take little hershel back to asz on foot or something like that. maybe sophia too. real lack of a-list characters and the shit hitting the fan all at once make me think hilltop is headed for the shredder

I loved the throw backs to the past. The hands, the "scars are sexy" talk. Really bringing carl full circle.

Gregory is really one dumb shit. Even if Jesus hadn't seen him, what would Gregory do? Tell everyone that Maggie had a heart attack? Would ANYONE buy that?

I thought it was possible Gregory would break Lydia out and then kill Maggie, framing Lydia for it. I really don't know what he was trying to accomplish. He's definitely dead as shit now

I also don't think Maggie is dead. Idk. I feel like if she did die, Kirkman would let her get a few scratches in on Gregory or maim him or put up a better fight before she went. It's a little too clean

Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

I was under the assumption that Jesus still lived at the hilltop with his gay lover.....

Maggie can't be dead, she just got put to sleep Bill Cosby style! Something tells me the lines between human and zombie are kinda distorted for Lydia. I hope she's not some kind of necrophiliac, I mean she did just lick Carls rotten eye socket!

I'm still torn between Lydia actually being into Carl and it being a ruse...if anything, he'll walk away from this short one V-Card and possibly plus one fetish.

I also wonder if this is going to turn into some post apocalyptic Romeo and Juliet type situation.

I'll go 8/10...

First and foremost, I hope Jesus disembowels that fat fuck Gregory.

Second, maybe Lydia is honey potting Carl? I was like 75% against that idea last issue but now? Whatever the case, good for Carl. Negan will be so very proud.

Third, thought the eye socket licking scene was disturbing but not gross. It and everything that followed really took Lydia to whole new level of creepiness. I also thought Carl's reactions to the whole situation were great. I could really feel his awkwardness and unease.

Fourth...I think it's safe to say that Carl has taken over for his father as the primary protagonist of the story. Rick's basically been a nonentity since the end of AOW.

Also, the Carson's are brothers! Fantastic!

P.S., I don't think Maggie bites it from the poison. Or at least I hope. I also kind of like the idea of there being some sort of trial involving Gregory, with Rick presiding as judge. It would be something we haven't seen before...

Kirkman, I know that the whole time skip advanced the characters' ages a bit, but I think you forgot that Carl is still 12 FRICKING YEARS OLD WTF MAN WTF!!!!!!!!!

Lydia, you ARE NOT 12. I know she is young but you can see in comparison to Sophia, that is is borderline raping a 12 year old year old!!!! Kirkman there has to be a line, right??!?!?!?!

I think Carl is gonna end up killing Lydia. Carl is too cold and stoic to let a chick run him. No way he gets pussy whipped. I believe it's ultimately going to be a choice between her and someone else and Carl will make the right decision but not before he lets her get away with just a little bit too much and it's going to cost everyone something big. Ultimately killing Lydia is going to change him in a big way similarly to when he killed Ben or Billy... I can never remember which one it was. That's what I see coming down the road anyway.

Lydia is probably only 14 or 15. Carl is a mature 12 or 13. It's not a huge age difference. We also won't know for sure just how far they went til next issue. Sure it's implied that they had sex but Kirkman loves to troll us so it doesn't necessarily have to go that way.

Andrea refers to Carl as a teenager at some point and I gotta believe she would know...

But I also believe that the jump was longer than we think. Like 4 years, not 2. Things just make more sense if there was a longer jump in my opinion, especially the matured Sophia and all the development Rick has accomplished. 2 years just doesn't seem like enough time for all of that.

Oh yeah I forgot about Carson! Finally we see one of the former saviors after 10 issues. Also is anybody else reminded of Carol by Lydia's actions like when she had sex with Billy? The way Adlard illustrates her is really similar. Cooncidence?

There's no doubt that Lydia and Carol are/were both a little more than insane by normal standards.

Normal people don't wear rotten flesh or eat animals "the dead have killed"

I realize normal has a definition in the TWD world but I would consider our cast of heroes to be normal and they definitely don't do either of those things, let alone lick eye sockets and seduce 13 year olds.
