Well if i'm Gregory i say something like that, they are very angry so they might listen. You know one of those parents will come back to you. Anyways. His plan could be use the other guy to go after Maggie, she'll kill him in self defense then people will want change because she can no longer be in charge. It'll break the we don't kill rule.

I then see Gregory telling people they need change and he can bring it to them and tell parents how kids will be safe and no more attacks...blah blah blah.

If this happens surely even Gregory knows they wouldnt re elect him the leader... Not after all the shit he did in the past... Im actually surprised Gregory is still around after he went to Negan...

I think before the ZA Gregory might have been some type of aide to a politician.  He knows how to work with people and listen also. He also knows how to twist things to his favor, I think this is how he has managed to stay alive this long!

As for Carl and Lydia, I think Carl is going to run off with her back to the Skins.

Still feeling like Carl's actions are more of a plot device and not part of  a consistent character progression.

Carl beating the snot out of those kids is  a catalyst for mutiny and another excuse to wrestle over and argue about  moral dilemmas, right/ wrong yadda yadda yadda.

Case in point:

Carl beats kids, Maggie says they're just kids, they can grow into fine upstanding adults

Maggie imprisons a young girl, Carl says she's just a kid, she can grow into a fine, upstanding adult.

Maggie says it's not the same.

Feels awfully familiar somehow.

Oh god, I definitely suspect Lydia is playing Carl out right now. He's gonna have feelings for her and then when shit hits the fan...Carl is gonna cause the death of himself or others...

I"m thinking Carl is safe. I'm thinking this is all leading up to Maggie's death.

Carl's starting to question/ resent her for keeping the girl locked up, while others are starting to resent her for letting Carl roam free.

And those saying that her some of her decisions have gotten people killed- they have a point.

My only thing wih Lydia is her facial expressions during those panels. Carl can't see her so she could have just acted like she was crying. Also the way she seems shocked by certain things. Then again maybe this js to throw us off. The way she talks they have to kill or it's like they may get into trouble.

That's a good point, I didn't really think of that.

How long did it take from when Lydia first started talking to Carl, to now Carl is trying to convince Maggie to be lenient on her? Carl has quite a bit of experience fighting... at least for his age. How much experience does he have in interrogation? Can he tell when someone is full of shit, or just saying the 'right things'?

I'm pretty sure Carl is getting played. If Lydia was a week, naive, kid - as she is presenting herself to Carl... the Whisperers would not even know who she was. The Whisperers outside the Hilltop referenced her by name and said she was a strong member - that she can handle herself. Then we have her acting scared and weak. Either the whisperers are WRONG when they say that she is strong and capable, or she is being purposely deceptive. I'm going with the latter...

she did admit to carl that she'd never been alone before... we could just be seeing her at a level of scared she hasn't had to deal with yet

On both sides. I think we'll get some sort of agreement by the end of this. Idk maybe the communities pay tribute with some sort of resource while the skins agree not to mess with then and also act as scouts on the edges of their territory. I think of the Xioungnu and the Han dynasty for some reason.

If we are to expeirence another "war" i hope it would be Ricks forces and the skins to fight another huge evil i don't want the skins and Ricks or any other community fight against each other.

I've kind of come around to the idea that I'd like the next major villain to be remnants of the actual government or something along those lines. An entity with noble but misguided causes rather than an obvious villain like the Gov or Negan. Of course, it could be argued that the Gov and Negan were noble but misguided but they were also...we knew what they were from the start. I'd like to see something that would reintroduce the moral dilemmas that used to be a big part of the narrative.

And after 4 or 5 years or however long it has been I feel that would be a nice "holy shit" moment and bring up the interesting argument or what authority the pre-ZA government would actually have 5 years into an every-man-for-himself apocalypse.

Interesting idea.

I like the idea of the pre-ZA government officials re-surfacing. But instead of being   antagonists and/ or misguided, maybe being a legitimate ray of hope.

Like maybe a severely weakened version of their former selves, trying to re-establish order and failing miserably. Maybe instead of trying to rule with an Iron fist, they seek out Rick's help in the hopes of re-establishing their legitimacy, because they know that Rick is a figure of respect that people trust.

I think it's BS. How many people haven't been alone in some point in their post-ZA survival. I think Carl caught of glimpse of a cute blonde around his age, and has been smitten ever since. Carl has no idea of the implications of a group of people as large as the Whisperers could be. He hasn't taken into consideration that this girl isn't just a cute blonde teenager, but she's a member of a strange cult-ish group that has gone through extreme measures to survive (not to mention they are known to attack survivors on sight). Carl is not being rational - in his dealings with this girl.

i think i trust carl's judgement a little better than that, but maybe that's what the whole point of this will turn out to be.

what if.. Carl is playing  Lydia? lmao. no seriously. he's trying to be big and bad carl now, trying to get noticed so others dont think he's stayed alive this long just because of his Infamous father. He seems like hes trying to prove himself. Trying to pull his own wait. At least that's what i think.

Because dont get me wrong i totally agree with you guys, what yall have said seem like plausible paths Rob would take the story in to but you never know.

If we the reader could not see Lydia's face during her interactions with Carl I would think she was trying to honey pot him too.

And maybe it's just me, but from her looks I don't think she's playing Carl at all. I believe she's legitimately frightened and shocked. I'm not saying the Skins are good guys or she won't end up being a villainess, I just don't think she has any ulterior motives at the moment.

Carl's also always been a solid judge of character, Negan fascination aside.

Its interesting how many interrogations and reverse interrogations there have been in this arc. a theme of how people question strangers and who is getting what information and what they learn about the other that the other doesn't quite know about themselves. Maybe getting ahead of things there a little bit.
